My son's gonna spend his formative years with his eyes clipped open, playing Action of Blood until all he can do is scream, swordfight and shoot a nailgun. After that, the government will pay me to keep him chained and drugged.

In actuality, I'll probably eventually get a Wii too, when he's old enough to mess with it, and when they are cheap as dirt. The Virtual Console thing is cool, also. (Emulators are fun, but it's nice to play games on a TV)

the emulators are cool but dropping 5$-10$ on a game you need to buy a memory card for because the system doesnt have a built in hard drive, and then buy a special controller for anything snes and up because the functionality isnt built into the controller it comes with... that's how nintendo makes their money. you end up spending more on a wii than a ps3.

if anyone really wants to get a wii, i'll say it again: get boom blox, mario party fun game whatever for the kids. no more heroes, mario galaxy, metroid prime, and zelda for yourself. thank me later.

but get an xbox. if you have kids, get viva pinata. problem solved.

I beat this in less than three days, I'd suspect that anyone who plays video games more would get through even faster.

I got the thing - been playing it too much. My username is SeaDonkey79 - somebody befriend me, pleez.

BTW - all I have thus far is Gears 1 and GTA 4, but Left 4 Dead is next on the agenda.

also i somehow missed this.

ps3 101: not all ps3s are backwards compatable. the only types of ps3s that have the proper chips in them are the 20GB/60GB ps3s, and the 80GB ps3 Model CECHE01 (the old 80gb)

even then, not all ps1 and ps2 titles have been added. use this website to check. there's no list, you actually have to search.

so,

if you buy one of the new 80gb ones, you're sol. if you buy one of the models they dont sell anymore, you *might* be able to play your old games.

Fallout 3 is just about the best game I've ever played. Who knew the apocalypse could be so fun?

I just got this this week after putting in an insane amount of hours in Oblivian, which is the best game I've played, though the Mad Max theme in this could surely take it over the top. It is fantastic. I want that Rock-it launcher.

Yeah, I had to stray from Oblivion after I realized that Fallout was basically the same setup but different setting. I'm definitely more of a "mohawks, shotguns and spikey shoulder-pads" nerd.

the only thing i didn't like about Fallout was how scared i was that dogmeat was going to die.

i just kept sending him back to vault 101 to chill.

Damn, see, I feel pretty deep in this game, but I haven't met anybody named dogmeat, nor do I have access to the Vault again. I can just see the wasted hours laid out before me. Bethesda RULES! I heard in their next game you're Dick Marcinko, the guy that Rambo was supposedly based on or something?

Wikipedia says its happening.

Pretty fascinating guy, but I hope there's more to the game than just sneaking. I got pretty bored after a while with the Splinter Cell games.

he dies too easy. died once and i reverted back to a previous save, but then he died again while i walked to the other vault with the utopia, and i didnt want to replay all that.

So I've been purposely ignoring the main mission in Fallout, but I went in to an old auto shop to look for a motorcycle handbrake and just stumbled upon ol' dad. So much for the storyline.

so after beat FO3 in one sitting...

I went back through and made a character that uses no weapons. Try that if you want it to be a bit more difficult. It's still too easy, but at least it's not boring.

Megaman is still harder.

yea, i did. you just have to build a character around stealth, speed, and h2h combat primary. It's kind of rough, but way more fun.

I also played on PC, not a console, so there's a bit more leeway with controls, macros, peripheral hotkeys and the like.
