Ave'Rage Life

Post by Drewp66 » Tue Aug 13, 2013 11:22 pm

No discussion of the Louisville Indie Music scene is complete without a discussion of Ave'rage Life. Their music was genuinely intricate, hard driving. and the most politically assailing of the times. Songs like "White Folks and Their Problems", "Strictly For", "Crackdown", "Burning Winter", "Camoflauge Kids", were all prophetic songs 25 years ahead of their time. Tom Pearce (the band's founder) has recently posted some songs from the album "Imperial City Breakdown" on soundcloud. Here is the link... https://soundcloud.com/thomas-edward-pearce

Released in the mid 80s, Imperial City Breakdown features the original lineup with Tom Pearce on vocals/guitar, Scott Proffitt on Drums, Carl West on Bass, and Jeff Collins on Guitar. At the time, arguably the most talented musicians in the Louisville Indie scene.

I was fortunate to play drums on the band's second and still unreleased album. All of the tracks are still on the studio reels. Sadly the money ran out and record labels wanted us to sell out. Imagine all of the incredible music that the "Industry" kept the world from hearing.

Check out the link to soundcloud. The tracks from "Imperial City Breakdown" are all listed by number. You'll have to listen to know which ones are which.

Who?
You cannot escape me! Lead me into a trap and I'll pile the heads of your kinsmen at your feet! Hide from me and I'll tear apart the mountains to find you! I'll follow you to hell.
